Town Crier! is random snippets of Shanghai news that just may have an effect on your life...

In keeping with the somewhat bizarre tradition of putting ferris wheels on top of anything that's not fairground  we're looking at you, Tianjin Eye – China's getting a brand new one right here in Shanghai.

The city will receive a big gift this Christmas Eve in the form of its very first rooftop ferris wheel. Aptly named the 'Sky Ring', it will sit above Joy City, a popular shopping mall on Line 8 along Qufu Lu, according to a local news service. The ferris wheel will offer views of Suzhou Creek and the Shanghai skyline.

The Sky Ring has 30 cars, each of which can fit up to four people. Below is some concept art for Shanghai's newest attraction.

Once it opens to the public, the Sky Ring should be a fun stop for date night or a day with the family.
