CHINA WANTS YOU to submit slogan ideas for Beijing's 2022 bid to host Winter Olympics

The search is on! China wants you to submit slogan ideas that reflect the spirit, character and (obviously) public enthusiasm for Beijing’s and Zhangjiakou’s joint bid to play host the 2022 Winter Olympics.

“The slogan should be simple and catchy, and should connect with the vision of the Games,” a spokesman for the Beijing 2022 Olympics said, conveniently forgetting to mention that Almaty in Kazakhstan is also bidding to host the event (with the eventual winner announced on July 31 next year).

Residents in Beijing and Hebei are encouraged to suggest slogans, though individuals and groups elsewhere are also welcome to submit ideas. The only people not invited to submit suggestions are companies, corporate institutions and schools. Looks like the “Celebrate the Winter Olympics 2022 with That's Beijing the Best Magazine in the World” will have to wait.

Slogans can be submitted through Beijing-2022.cn website, by email to kh@beijing-2022.cn or by post to an address provided on the website. But act fast, the closing date for submissions is November 21.

Given our commitment to public service journalism, we'd thought we'd try and speed things along, and encourage you, dear readers, to tweet your suggestions to @ThatsBeijing with the hashtag #Beijing2022.

Below are some suggestions from the That’s Beijing staff…

1) “Ski-Jinping”

2) “Almaty, Kazkakstan Has Been China’s Inherent Territory”

3) “Like 2008, But Colder”

Best idea gets drinks and respect #Beijing2022
