The Qixi Festival, sometimes referred to as Chinese Valentine's Day, is a key date on the lunar calendar. While the festival is rooted in tradition, for many couples, it is simply a chance to do something romantic together. 

Qixi Festival 2021 falls on Saturday, August 14. For those of you in Beijing, be sure to read below to find out the best way to spend Chinese Valentine's Day with your special someone. Staycation packages, sumptuous set menus, afternoon tea and more are all on offer.

Enjoy a 7-course set menu prepared by Chef Maiker at Michelin-award-winning Grill 79. Dishes include confit scallop, foie gras, crab bisque, grilled Boston lobster, Australian wagyu M6+ striploin and lava cake. Enjoy with your loved one for RMB2,888 per couple. 

The Lounge has a 4-course set menu for RMB1,988 for two persons. A whole range of dishes includes seared scallops & foie gras terrine, lobster & crab bisque, surf & turf platter for sharing, as well as dessert for sharing. 

For a Japanese-style Chinese Valentine’s dinner, head to Nadaman. Appetizers, soup, sashimi, prawn & vegetables tempura, Wagyu tenderloin steak, selected sushi and desserts are all on the menu. The 7-course set menu for two is priced at RMB1,888 and includes two glasses of wine. 

The Red Chamber on the Michelin “Bib Gourmand” list features a set menu for two people this Chinese Valentine’s Day. The menu is priced at RMB1,314 per couple. Indulge in assorted selected appetizers as well as main dishes such as braised sea cucumber, baked garoupa, Peking duck roasted over date wood and desserts.
