Turn Your Saturnbird Coffee Cups Into Trendy Treasures

Coffee is a vital part of any busy Beijinger’s day. One cup goes a long way in giving us energy to keep going – but what about the journey of that coffee cup? Enter Saturnbird Coffee and their brainchild, called The Project Return.

Twice a year, Saturnbird Coffee gives back with pop-up shops where visitors can bring their stash of collected empty coffee cups to exchange them for recycled goods (some of which are made with said discarded coffee cups). Yes, Saturnbird Coffee transforms your trash into trendy treasure for your shopping pleasure.

This way, coffee can bring a more permanent joy. It no longer ends with a quick cup on-the-go or at a cafe – it can transform into a part of your everyday life, whether it be a trendy bag or a reusable coffee cup.

The project aims to inspire coffee lovers to be more environmentally conscious by encouraging them to save their empty cups and bring them to the designated return points that are set up in each city. Interested patrons can make a reservation to drop by the return points on the Saturnbird app. The pop-up shop is not only filled with reusable goodies by the brand, but fun collaborations with fashion labels, independent publications, bookstores, bicycle shops, art galleries, cafes and more.

This past Project Return took place from October 16-18, covering 43 cities and 64 return points across China. Collabs included the Little Planet mystery coffee box (with a cute toy surprise inside), an Orange Ocean frisbee, a PUPUPULA small lightbulb and an algae ball made with Super Plant.

And that’s not all – Saturnbird Coffee teamed up with three public welfare organizations, N.O.C., Pickup China and Dashanbao Reserve, to receive donations. Each of the three charities were gifted RMB50,000 by the end of the fundraiser!

So, the next time you drink up remember to save those cups! When Project Return, er, returns, you won’t want to miss the rewarding experience.
