The ’90s shoegaze darlings Slowdive grace audiences with a show at Tango this month. After a lengthy hiatus, the British band’s resurrection came in the form of a self-titled album, freshly charged with mellow hits like ‘Sugar for the Pill’ and ‘Star Roving.’ Tune in to their ethereal indie rock and peacefully sway all of your worries away.
Fri Sep 14, 8.30pm; RMB300 (presale), RMB350 (door); Tango, see event listing. Buy tickets here.
Sep 14: Mild High Club

Mild High Club's music is exactly what you'd expect from such a suggestive band name – catchy and effortlessly cool. Chicago native Alex Brettin, the man behind the moniker and the music, specializes in psychedelic pop in all its fuzzy glory, with groovy synths and lo-fi goodness. He is like a tamer Mac DeMarco – an unavoidable comparison that hits you from the first sound of his cheery vocals, slinky guitar riffs and playful reverberations. Mild High Club’s show at Omni Space this month marks his China debut. Catch up with the musician in our recent interview.
Fri Sep 14, 8.30pm; RMB160 (presale), RMB200 (door); Omni Space, see event listing. Buy tickets here.

Alas, the Airbnb contest for a free stay on the Great Wall eventually came to nothing (see p. 7). But as it turns out, that was not the only chance for you to sleep on top of the world’s longest wall: follow Beijing Hikers in their all-inclusive, bad-weather-proof hike with tents and sleeping bags delivered to the site.
Sat Sep 15-Sun Sep 16, from 10am; RMB1,600, RMB1,440 (members); departure from Lido Hotel Starbucks or Liangmaqiao subway, see event listing.
