A Beijing police task force known as the "Wolf Hunt Squad" seeks to crack down on sexual harrassment throughout the city’s subways, as reported by SCMP.
The force was able to apprehend 118 offenders since the group’s establishment in June last year. Since the beginning of May this year alone, over 30 suspects were punished for their misconduct on the underground trains. The encroachments most commonly happen during peak hours in the morning and evening when physical contact between commuters is hard to avoid.

The problem is globally widespread and women in Beijing and other municipalities have long complained about harassment occurring on the city’s subways. In a survey conducted by China Youth Daily last year, about 53 percent of participants confirmed that either they or friends have fallen victim to such invasions into their private space.
When interviewed by The Beijing News, Liu Dapeng, a police officer of the task force, elaborated on the group’s tactics and how he and his team apprehended an offender near the Communication University of China in Beijing.
He stated that the man “deliberately stood between two women” and “took advantage of the crowds during the morning peak hour” to grope one of the victims.
To detain the man, he and his colleagues had to obtain sufficient evidence of the man’s wrongdoings. They followed and filmed the subject’s actions until they had satisfactory documentation to end the offenders groping spree.

While the task force achieved significant success in the matter and expanded its reach with over 20 teams deployed throughout Beijing, offences are hard to capture due to the nature of the busy crowds in Beijing’s subway.
