America's Independence Day is upon us and that means two things – BBQ and free-flow beer, of course. Wondering where to get your fix? There are plenty of spots around Beijing joining in on the freedom festivities. Luckily for you, we've put together a handy guide of the best places to celebrate this July 4th.
Home Plate BBQ
The BBQ joint is hosting their annual bash complete with a smoked whole hog buffet, tasty sides and a whole lot of freedom for only RMB138. Live music will also be provided by Stevie Mac and the Mac Daddies starting from 9.30pm. Stay tuned for drink deals and free flow packages.
6pm-late; RMB138; Home Plate BBQ (Sanlitun), see event listing.
The Local Bar & Grill
The Local is hosting a USA-themed quiz and they're calling upon Americans to defend their honor. They've even prepared a cookout menu for the occasion featuring burgers, hot dogs, boneless wings and plenty of sides – available from 4-8pm.
4-11pm; The Local Bar & Grill, see event listing.
Hooters
Freedom isn’t free, but free-flow beer and vodka mixers are only RMB100 for five whole hours this Independence Day. Murricans and non-Murricans alike are welcome to join this Budweiser-soaked celebration hosted by WeChat-group-turned-party-promoters ‘Murrica.’ Wear red, white and blue – and something tacky, because it’s at Hooters.
6-11pm; RMB100; Hooters, see event listing.
EAST
For something a little more family-friendly, EAST is providing some good old-fashioned American fun with a kitchen takeover at Feast. To entertain the kids, experts from Legend Quarterback Club will be hosting American football games from 5-6pm. What better way to celebrate than with family, some classic American dishes and a little football?
5-11pm; RMB245, half-price for kids ages 7-11; EAST Beijing, see event listing.
Project Pengyou Courtyard
Stop by Project Pengyou Courtyard for their annual Independence Day celebration in the courtyard, where they'll have all-you-can-eat barbecue and drinks for RMB100.
6.30pm; RMB100; Project Pengyou Courtyard, see event listing.
Side Street
Side Street is keeping their Tuesday tradition but adding a twist – they're combining RuPaul's Drag Race with 4th of July celebrations and dubbing the night 'Red, White and Ru.' The lineup includes a screening of the season finale, lip syncing, drag queens and a charity raffle for the Beijing Gender Society.
9pm; Side Street, see event listing.
Equis
Diamond DJ Naomi will provide the soundtrack for this party at one of Beijing's glitziest lounges. Patrons can also enjoy half-off select American bourbons. The dress code – if you haven't guessed it – is red, white and blue.
10pm; Equis, see event listing.
