Project name: Apartment of Perfect Brightness
Location: Chaoyang, Beijing
Building area: 230sqm
Designer: Adam Sokol Architecture Practice PLLC (ASAP)
The brief: American architecture firm ASAP was tasked with creating a light-filled apartment with a clean design to showcase the owner’s artwork. To achieve this, the firm researched the psychological effects of different colors of daylight and used folding wooden doors in the living and sleeping quarters.
Additional storage areas and lights hide behind folding wooden doors in the master bedroom.
The owner’s artwork stands out against an uncluttered hallway.
Natural light is offset by a pop of color, provided by another one of the owner’s distinctive artworks.
Strategically-placed lights and ornaments add warmth to the children’s room.
The study room ‘wall’ unfolds to reveal floor-to-ceiling bookcases.
Minimalist design complements the apartment’s bathroom fixtures.
