Michelin-starred DaDong opened its first ever US location in New York City on December 11 – and it’s all the rage. The restaurant received 2,500 reservations during its first two hours, and it is already fully booked through mid-February. It turns out Manhattanites are mad about Peking duck.

The massive restaurant is located near Times Square. It seats 450 people and measures 17,500-square-feet.
The American menu features 80 dishes in total – far fewer than the chain’s Chinese branches, which serve roughly 240 items. Many dishes were intentionally left off the menu because they were believed to be unpalatable for Americans. Among the dishes that didn’t make the cut were the stir-fried Chinese lasagna with powdered crab roe and crab fat and the sweet and sour jellyfish with aged vinegar, Bloomberg reports.
DaDong has 14 locations around China – 10 in Beijing and four in Shanghai. The chain will soon open an additional branch in Chengdu.
