Nov 11: Autumn Lights Party
It’s that time of year again: time to dance under red lanterns at Café Zarah’s annual Autumn Lights Party. This Friday, the Gulou hangout will decorate its beautiful courtyard with red lanterns. Sure, November’s chilly – but Zarah’s ready with special outdoor heating, red blankets and a bar serving their famous gluewein and snacks. Some of the city’s best DJs will supply the beats, while you celebrate what Zarah calls “the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and hope over despair.” If that’s not worth celebrating, then we don’t know what is.
Sat Nov 11, 7pm-late. Zarah, see event listing.
Nov 12: Paul Van Dyk
One of the world’s most recognized DJs, Paul van Dyk practically invented trance music. He then went on to win a Grammy and the No. 1 spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ List twice. But at a performance in The Netherlands last year, van Dyk fell through a gap in the stage and suffered severe spinal and brain injuries, putting him out of commission for months. But the good news is he's back in action, and he'll be landing at Elements on his upcoming China tour. Check out our full interview with him here.
Sun Nov 12, 9pm; Ticket price TBD. Element Club, see event listing.
