Sep 22: DJ Okapi

DJ Okapi is playing an all-vinyl set of African electronic music at Dada on Friday night. The Johannesburg-based DJ is a master at digging up rare beats and breathing new life into South African music from the '80s and '90s. Expect a synth, disco and funk filled set.

Fri Sep 22, 10pm-4.30am; TBD. Dada, see event listing.

Sep 22: Bohan Phoenix

In the brutally competitive scene that is hip-hop, credentials and authenticity are everything. Bohan Phoenix sidesteps this meta almost entirely. He grew up in rural China and moved to the US at the age of 11, and learned English by rapping. This gives him an interesting command of the language, and an intriguing perspective that most American rappers simply cannot emulate. Bohan Phoenix has performed on stage with heavyweights 21 Savage, Migos and Metro Boomin as recently as last September. He'll be performing at Omni Space on Friday.

Fri Sep 22, 9-11.30pm; RMB150 (door) / RMB130 (presale). Omni Space, see event listing.

Sep 23: Arrow Factory's '80s Golden Shower

Break out your denim outfits and leg warmers because Arrow Factory Liangmahe is throwing an ’80’s Golden Shower this Saturday. Get it... because Golden Week is coming up! In addition to really cool costumes, there will be tons of deals on colored beers. Think Blonde on Blonde Belgian Ale, Man with the Golden Hop Country Ale and more. Starting at 6pm there will be special deals on select brews. DJ Jager Zhadan will be bumping ‘80s throwbacks and there will be a bunch of prizes for those of you who are dressed the best. FYI, the first 50 people to follow Arrow Factory on WeChat (ArrowFactoryBJ) and to send a message with their full name and the words “Golden Shower” will get a free golden beer on arrival.

Sat Sep 23, 6pm-2am. Arrow Factory Brewing (Liangmahe), see event listing.

Sep 23: Tavey Lean & The Solid Gold Machine Birthday Show

Tavey Lean and The Solid Gold Dream Machine is definitely a Beijing favorite. It's Tavey's birthday, which means the band is celebrating with a huge show/party at 4corners on Saturday. This one's bound to be a good time. And according to the band it's totally fine to don your birthday suit.

Sat Sep 23, 9pm; RMB50. 4corners, see event listing.

Sep 24: Big Italian Barbeque @ Bottega

Bottega’s going all out on Sunday with an authentic Italian barbeque. Expect lots of food – Italian sausage, fresh seafood, marinated meats – and lots of booze all in an awesome location, atop their new terrace. Spritz’s, beers and wines will be half price. DJ Ludo V and Club Paradise will keep the party going all day long.

Sun Sep 24, 2-8pm; Food RMB18-28 (per piece). Bottega, see event listing.
