Jul 14: Reborn by Metal Vol.2

If you're looking for some hardcore metal music then definitely head over to School Bar on Friday. Five metal bands will take the stage, including, China Town, Awake Mountains, Devil Mask, OWAT and Chaos Kills the Pain.

Jul 14-15: Miguel Zenón Quartet @ Blue Note

Grammy Award nominee Miguel Zenón is widely lauded as one of the world's best and most groundbreaking contemporary saxophonists. In their signature style, the Miguel Zenón Quartet will be bringing an original fusion of Latin American folkloric music and jazz to Blue Note on Friday and Saturday.

Jul 15: Hutong Bikini Party



It's time for School Bar's annual Hutong Bikini Party. There will be a barbecue, drinking and football competitions and pools on the roof and in the cooridors. And of course, this wouldn't be School Bar if there weren't music. Bands will take the stage around 4pm. Underdog, Hard Candy Revolution, Royal As Purple, Duff Beer and Subass will perform. FYI, if you wear a bikini you'll get in free.

Jul 15: Rap Group ItSoGoo @ Modernsky Lab

ItSoGoo is one of the more unique hip-hop acts in China. The group is known for incorporating everything from jazz to soul into their music. Their latest album Cosmic Islanders explores Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist philosophies through hip-hop music. Expect an entertaining and interesting show.

Jul 16: Marta Menzes

Portuguese pianist Marta Menzes has some prestigious awards under her belt including the First Prize at the International Piano Competition in Nice. She aims to showcase Portuguese music abroad and she'll be doing just that at her recital at the NCPA on Sunday. The program includes Beethoven, Schubert, Fragoso and more.
