Six people are still missing after torrential downpours triggered a landslide in western Beijing on Sunday, Xinhua reports.
The landslide occurred in Zhaitang Township – a popular tourist spot in Beijing’s Mentougou District – on Sunday afternoon. Officials initially reported that 11 people were missing. However, according to the Beijing government press office, that number has now decreased to six.
"Five of them had been found as of 5am," the office said on Monday.
A search and rescue operation is still underway for the missing people.
