Have you ever been sitting in the emergency exit row on a plane and found yourself morbidly curious about what would happen if you pulled the emergency lever? We suppose it’s OK to be curious, but it’s not cool to pull the lever guys. It’s just not cool.

On Monday, a woman traveling on Xiamen Airlines was detained by police after she suddenly pulled the emergency lever and deployed the evacuation slide as the plane was just about to take off.

Flight attendants attempted to stop the woman. However, the slide had already been inflated. Police were immediately called, and they escorted the passenger off the plane. The plane was scheduled to fly from Beijing to Xiamen in Fujian Province. However, the flight was ultimately cancelled.

According to the police, the woman said that she was just curious to see what would happen and she didn’t realize the offense was so serious.

She received 12 days of administrative detention. She also faces some pretty hefty fines for her actions. If the evacuation slide can’t be salvaged, the fine could be as much as RMB450,000 (USD66,250).

Moral of the story is: don’t pull the emergency exit lever, no matter how curious you are.
