Mar 13-17: Chikalicious and K.H. Würtz to Pop-up

The Opposite House is partnering up with Chikalicious, a popular dessert bar from New York City, and K.H. Würtz, a father and son duo who are famous for their hand-thrown crockery. Head over to Bei Space from now until Friday to indulge. Desserts will be served from 1pm onward as part of a three-course menu (RMB198). Guests will also be able to chat with Chefs Mauro and Maya of Chikalicious, and watch as they create their amazing desserts.

Mar 14: Steak & BJ Day

The timing of this is a bit awkward considering our recent rant about sexist Women's Day celebrations... but March 14 is Steak and BJ Day (and no that doesn't stand for Beijing). And for the occasion, Fú Tapas & Wine Bar will be preparing a steak dinner for all you couples out there.

Tues Mar 14, 6pm; RMB398 per couple. Fú Tapas & Wine Bar, see event listing

Mar 16: Travel Videography Masterclass with Matt Hulse

BOOKWORM-IMAGE-GRID-small-225x300.jpg

Beijing-based British artist, filmmaker and writer Matt Hulse will be leading a travel videography masterclass at The Bookworm on Thursday. Hulse has been making films for over three decades. During the class he will screen and discuss a selection of films shot in the DPRK, Dresden, Warsaw, Vienna, Czech Republic and the UK. Hulse will alos premiere his new film from Outer Mongolia and perform a new spoken word piece inspired by his time in North Korea.

Thurs Mar 16, 7.30pm. RMB100; for tickets click here. The Bookworm, see event listing

Mar 17: Tequila State of Mind

We can't think of a better way to end the work week than with what is bound to be an excellent 5-course dinner at Sureño. Oh and did we mention the meal is paired with tequila cocktails? Yeah.

Fri Mar 17, 6pm-till; RMB600 per person. Sureño, see event listing.

Mar 18: Home Plate Rodeo Party

Home Plate is bringing Texas-style rodeo right here to Beijing. Well it's not exactly traditional bull riding... it's more like electric bull riding. But that's more fun, right? There's going to be tons of food - an entire pig, chicken wings, potato salad, coleslaw and more. There will be drink specials as well as live music (starting at 10.30pm).

Sat Mar 18, 4pm; RMB138 per person. Home Plate Sanlitun, see event listing.

Mar 19: Cookie Monster Bake Off

The Cookie Monster Bake Off is back and it’s as delicious as ever. While it’s too late to enter your own recipes into the contest, you can still go try them yourself at The Hutong on the day of judging. Your ticket gets you samples all of 20 cookies, plus a glass of warm millk.

Sun Mar 19, 2-5pm; RMB150 (RMB100 for Hutong members); The Hutong, see event listing
