A 17-year-old male who was detained for harassing two saleswomen on the Beijing subway will not be punished for his actions, Global Times reports. The teen was taken into police custody on Sunday, after a video of the incident went viral. The 2-minute clip depicts the teen’s malicious tirade against the women, which ends with the boy taking away the women’s phones and physically throwing them (and their phones) off the subway.
The teen, surnamed Zhang, was reportedly angered by the women after they asked him to scan a QR code for their online business. The video captures Zhang yelling at the women to “go away” and repeatedly calling them “outsiders.”
After one woman attempts to call the police, Zhang takes their phones and refuses to give them back until they get off the subway. When the subway pulls into the station, Zhang throws the phones onto the platform and aggressively pushes the women out of the car.

Police tracked the teenage boy down on Sunday and sentenced him to five days of administrative detention. However, police have now decided not to punish him because he is a minor and they believe he is remorseful.
Zhang has since apologized to the women, who were reportedly uninjured in the incident. The women were lectured by police about promoting their business on the subway.
