We did the research so you don't have to. Here's your guide to what's going on in Beijing this weekend.
March 25-27: The Bookworm Literary Festival
The Bookworm Literary Festival is still going on and there are tons of events going on all weekend long. You can find a full schedule of events (including prices and locations) here. But a few of our top picks are a workshop with cartoonist Larry Feign on Saturday, a discussion with author Tim Clissold about what the West can learn from China on Saturday, and a talk by author and North Korean defector Hyeonseo Lee on Sunday.
March 26: 330 Metal Music Festival
Any metal fans out there? We thought so. One of the biggest metal festivals in China is happening in Beijing this Saturday at the Tango Club. The 15th annual 330 Metal Music Festival will feature 13 metal bands – including asphyxia, Subversion M and Shaman – on two stages. Oh, and there will be free hot dogs too. For more details see the event listing here.
March 26: Etienne de Crécy at Dada
Etienne de Crécy (also known as ‘Superdiscount’) is a French DJ and producer. His first release Super Discount is widely regarded as the first album of the ‘French touch’ genre – basically house music with a French attitude. With his signature style, de Crécy is known for putting on some pretty entertaining shows. You can catch him at Dada on Saturday night. For more details see the event listing here.
March 27: Izia at Yugong Yishan
Speaking of French, did you know that this weekend marks the annual Fête de la Francophonie in Beijing? So for all you Francophiles out there or for those of you who just like some good old-fashion rock music check out French rock star Izia at Yugong Yishan this Sunday. The singer and guitarist is known for her unique voice (some say she actually sounds a lot like Janis Joplin). For more details see the event listing here.
